Converting a 6×6 Scrap Page to 12 x 12

September 12th, 2008

Gosh where has the last week gone??  I’m not sure I even know.  I get about the world these days in a land of my own.  Or off with the fairies as my Mother would say!!  Anyway, you probably don’t want to hear about all that do you??

I have a workshop make and take that is a 6×6 size.  Now most of my customers would scrap in either A4 or 12x 12.  I’ve got some pictures here showing you how i’ve converted the original 6×6 make and take into an A4 and then that into a 12×12 page.

This first picture is the 6×6 make and take.  Very simple and easy.  I find that if you use a black and white photograph it doesn’t matter what colour you use in the layout.  It will always match.  The colours used here are Soft Sky and Blue Bayou.  The Stamp set is Always from the Spring Mini.  The ribbon is the double stitched Blue Bayou.  The gorgeous child in the picture is my little man Thomas.  Cute huh?

This next picture is the 6×6 converted into A4.  I’ve just layered the original page onto Chocolate Chip Cardstock.  I’ve added a journaling block and some more stamping using the Always set.

The last picture is the finished 12×12.  I have used the hearts from Always and the “Rock and Roll” technique.  I’m a bit partial to that at the moment and seem to be using it a lot!  I just inked the heart in Blue Bayou and then rocked and rolled it into the chocolate chip ink which gives you the two colour effect.  Some more little circles at the bottom and Voila you are done!

I hope you liked it.  I hope my hostess likes it too!

I’m still operating out of boxes so my apologies for the lack of posts.  I have a hundred ideas running through my head but by the time I even find half of what I need to make it amongst the boxes and bits and pieces I’ve seriously lost my will to create!!  Poor me huh? LOL.  I’ll have to get me some of those Big Girl Panties on and Deal with it huh??!! LOL.  It probably doesn’t help that the bump is getting so big I can barely reach the desk anymore!!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

I’ve been on a Summer Picnic

August 4th, 2008

Ok Ok I know that technically we are still in Winter but the new Summer Picnic Designer Series papers from Stampin’ Up! have got me so darn chirpy!!  Do you remember that Cliff Richard Song “Summer Holiday?”

“Were all going on a summer holiday.
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday.
No more worries for me and you.
For a week or two.”

It’s such a happy song!  The original video is a crack though.  Check it out here on you tube if you fancy a bit of a giggle!

So what’s that got to do with anything.  Right, sorry I meandered away from stamping there for a minute!!  Well these new papers just have me so happy and I find myself thinking of that song every time I use them.  So now it’s going to be in your head too.  No, no don’t thank me – it’s perfectly alright!!!

I have another whole bundle of pictures again for you today!  First of all I made some matching little Post it Note holders.  I use these as hostess gifts at workshops or lucky door prizes.  They are a great easy gift to give someone!

I’ve used the Summer Picnic DSP’s, Real Red & Pumpkin Pie Card stock, Real Red Ink and the striped Grosgrain Ribbons in the Pumpkin, Real Red & Bashful Blue.  Cute Huh?

Then I got more happy and made some “Hi” cards.  I just wanted something cheery so that I could send a couple of friends a note without it being a long-winded “thinking of you” etc etc.  I like Hi.  It says everything I want it to!

All I’ve used on these is some Real Red Card stock, Scraps of the Summer Picnic papers, Striped Grosgrain Ribbons and a Pumpkin Scallop circle cut in half.  The Chipboard letters have been coloured with a marker, smothered in Crystal Effects and then Dazzling Diamonds generously applied.  The other Hi has been stamped using Big Deal Alpha and given dimension with some Crystal Effects.  Very quick, very easy and I’m liking the effect they have on me.  Yep, more happy!!

The last little project that I have to share with you is my big Note Holder-y thing.  Hmmn…not sure exactly what to name this.  Inspiration for it came from a picture I saw on the net from something someone in the US had done.  It was at the US convention.  I think theirs had a little white board though. I can’t remember exactly it’s just when I saw it I knew that I could adapt my little note holder into a BIG note holder!

I’ve used the cardboard sheet that comes in the DSP packet and covered it with more summer picnic papers.  I’ve also used some Old Olive Cardstock as the background strip for the Notes & To do words which have been stamped with my Big Deal Alphabet.  The gorgeous flowers come from the Summer Mini Die Cut Blooms Set.  These just match so beautifully with these papers.  I’ve also added a Rhinestone Brad to the centre of each.  They are red and look so cute!  I’ve raised the flowers with Dimensionals to give some depth.  I’ve added Crystal Effects to the letters as well.  The Real Red Stamping has kind of gone a little fluro with the Crystal Effects so I think I’ll have another go and see if I was challenged when I did it! The Note book and the Postits have been adhered to the holder with Sticky Strip.  It’s a definate must-have item if you are doing any off the page projects! Once you have stuck something down with it it’s never moving again!!  I used my favourite tool the Crop-a-dile to attach some Jumbo Eyelets to the corners, threaded through the Pumpkin Striped Grosgrain and Bob is your uncle….or something like that!

I love the way these papers brighten my mood.  I think I’ll be reaching for them again and again.  Get ready for some more Happy!!  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  I’d love to know if like that paper as much as me!!

Until Next time,
Happy Stamping!!

Always to celebrate Kristie

July 11th, 2008

Well here’s a sneaky peak of one of the new sets that’s coming out in the Spring Mini Catalogue due to be released 1 August.  This is Kristie’s Birthday Card.  I also made a matching journal for her but my pictures are ordinary so go over to her site if you want to see it (the link is in my blogroll to the right).

Cardstock: Basic Gray, Purely Pommegranate, Whisper White
Ink: Purely Pommegranate, Basic Gray (for sponging)
Other: NEW Satin Ribbon (DELICIOUS!), Hat pin and “bits” from Pretties Kit, Slit Punch for scalloping, Sponges and Ink.

So it’s a little preview of one of my favourite sets from the Mini.  You will see alot of this one.  I’m in love with it.  Thankfully Kristie loved her card as well!! She sets a high bar for me!! As my big sister she has an over-inflated sense of my worth!!

More samples to follow this weekend of the projects we’ll be making at my Mini Launches.  Stay tuned and until then, Happy Stamping!!
