Scrapbooking! Gasp!

I know! I scrapbooked! Can you imagine?? I “say” I’m a scrapper. After all, that’s really what started my love affair with paper a mere 10 or so years ago (eek). But in the last few years since I’ve been doing Stampin’ Up! I’ve mostly been doing cards. Because they’re quick, less messy (lol) and I can manage to do a few in the same allotted time frame as I can do one page. However, a couple of weekends ago I put my head down and got a whopping 31 pages done for a gift. It was a very last minute thing to help someone out. I really love to help others who want to do nice things for other people. ‘Cause it keeps the nice going around. If you know what I mean?? Aaannyway…let me move along. Here are some of the pages for your viewing pleasure. Keep in mind that a lot of the pages required only one photograph. There were 31 pages to go in the album so there are not a lot of bumpy embellishments, so that it wasn’t too bulky. And some of the journalling will be done by the recipients at a later date. Okay. Ready? Here we go:

Oh and I’m sorry sorry sorry but the Simply Scrapping Kit that I used is a retired one. I was lucky to have this one on hand to perfectly fit the needs of this album. It meat I was able to get stuck into it without having to wait for supplies. Who knew hoarding stuff would come in so handy?! I understand from Mandy that the album was very much liked, and that makes me pleased. I was glad to have helped someone out of a spot.

And, guess what? That’s three days of posting on the blog in a ROW! Amazing! hehehe.

Every Moment…

Hi again. Gosh. Two days in a row (da da da da da…four seasons in one day…anyone singing along now?). No? Ok, I will move on! lol

So this is a card I did recently at a class. One of the things I learnt at Convention was how to make the Tulip border embossing folder frame a smaller area. Not too tricky to learn how to do! Here’s the card:

Colours used are Bashful Blue for card base, Basic Gray for the frame, Rich Razzleberry DSP for the stripes and a More Mustard strip underneath. I’ve water coloured using the Confetti White CS an Aqua Painter and the ink from the top of the pad. I’m no Alisa Tilsner but you know, i’m happy with how this turned out. I think it’s the striking colour combination and how the Razzleberry just pops the other colours. Oh, well that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it! Again the use of the Decorative Label punch. Do you own it? Oh heavens above you should if you don’t! It’s gorgeous! And so many of my sentiments fit inside it! I love it! Can you tell??

Okay. I’m also working on editing some photos from an Anniversary Album that I did on Commission for a friend of another demo friend. I did 31 pages in less than a week. I know. I’m awesome! lol. Stampin’ Up! make it very easy to do with their Simply Scrappin’ Kits! I plan on getting some more and having some photos printed and getting stuck into some of my own scrapbooking! (If I keep saying it, eventually it will come true! Won’t it?).

It’s never easy to do sympathy cards…

And even harder when that card is for a family who has lost a little person. A week ago today I heard some of the saddest news ever. A little girl from Lara’s playgroup had passed away. Now some of you may know that my Lara has many “foibles” and so it’s not really a surprise that some of her friends share similar foibles. I knew that one day we’d be faced with the horrid prospect of a small person passing away, but that doesn’t make it any easier. My heart is still sore from the news and I cannot fathom how hard it must be for Kate’s family. I wanted to make a card that would be something beautiful to do a very small part of soothing sad souls.

And the inside:

I used Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Blushing Bride. The Butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. I sponged Crumb Cake around all the edges…the label on the front was made using the new decorative label punch from the mini catalogue. Hmmmn I think that’s it. I hope that Kate’s family liked it and that it helped in some small way.

Melbourne Convention

Hi again!! Just a quick convention post. I’m sure you all have read heaps more interesting blogs than mine about all the wonderful stuff that happened. I just thought I would show you my swaps. If I’m allowed to say so, I loved my swaps this year. They both made me happy on the inside! And we all know how good THAT is!! LOL

First swap was using Make a Monster. I also did some punch art stuff and made a little planet! I used the sentiment “Happy Birthday Human” from Lots of Bots set. I just thought they kinda went well together.

The base is Pear Pizazz and the other colours used are Not Quite Navy & Peach Parfait.

The other swap I took was a fun one with a pinwheel made out of my fave colour, Daffodil Delight!

I should have probably taken it out of the plastic before I took the picture but…well..um..I didn’t! LOL. I used the new cupcake punch and cupcake stamp set to do the clouds. I also used the new punch too. The “hill” is embossed with the polka dot folder.

The level of swaps I received at convention this year was outstanding! I was really happy with all the swaps I received and the best part of it was coming home and showing my kiddies. Katelin, Tom and I spent an hour our so laying on my bed (in the sun!) going through them all and chatting about each one. Here are some of my favourites:

Now the last picture is the the gift I gave my roomies. It was a hard cover notebook, some chocolates, a pen and some yummy hand cream.
