Yay! I played again. I will also admit that Pacific Point is starting to (dare I say it?) grow on me.. Eek!
Here is the Challenge from Stacey’s Stamping Stage:
And here is my card:
I whipped out the sewing machine for this card! I used 1 3/8″ circles folded in half for the “flags”. You can see from the next picture how they kinda stick out from the card.
And here is a close up of the sentiment:
The colours are very bright and quite cheerful and lend themselves to birthday. Or so I thought anyway! LOL.
I hope that wherever you are you are well and happy. It’s been a horrid week here with all of the flooding and subsequent clean up process. Our community has lost nearly all of our services. We have no Supermarket, Petrol Station, C&K Kindy, one of the daycare centres, the sports and rec club, post office, chemist, doctor, dentist, hardware, video store, gym, bank, coffee shop, bakery, bottleshop, real estates, fruit shop, newsagent…should I continue? Around 90 families have lost their homes, that’s approx 195 people without somewhere to live right now. Not to mention what they have lost in terms of belongings. My heart aches for their losses. A few concerned Mum’s (including me) are trying to collate enough kitchen essentials packs to take some of the pressure off for these families. If you would like to contribute you can contact me via email. The Lions Club locally is supporting us as well so if you do contribute we can provide you with a Tax Deductible receipt.
Anyway, take care!
Until next time,
The JAI girls have a great challenge this week – Just Add Monochrome! I’ve not really done a lot of monochromatic cards before but I enjoyed this one!! Main reason?? I used my favourite colour – Daffodil Delight!! After a pretty horrid week I needed a little lift!
The JAI challenge site here.
And my card:
And a close up of the words:
They say “thinking of you”. Don’t you love the yellow stripedy bakers twine?? Oooh love! And the stamp set that I’ve used is a Sale A Bration Freebie. SAB starts next week and you’ll be able to see more details then!!
Ok must keep running there is so much to do!!
Until next time,
There has been so much devastation in Queensland. Flooding has meant my suburb is now an island. I am thankful that i’m not in danger where I live however that is not the case for so many Queenslanders at the moment. Toowoomba, Withcott, Gatton, Grantham and other areas within the Lockyer Valley have been devastated by flash flooding. The footage in Toowoomba has been mind blowing. There are currently 10 confirmed dead with over 90 people still missing. Grave concerns are held for all their safety.
These are my local shops:
I spent 2 hours in Coles yesterday trying to get some supplies, knowing that it was likely to happen.
IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE DONATE TO THE PREMIER’S FLOOD RELIEF FUND – http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/
It’s very surreal here at the moment and the amount of destruction is devastating.
I hope that if you have family or friends in these areas that they are safe.
As I said yesterday I got a little bit addled with the colours for this weeks Curtain Call Challenge. I used Cajun Craze instead of Cherry Cobbler. So this is the card that wasn’t “right”.
I used the sentiment from the Hostess Level One set – Afterthoughts. I cut off the “afterthought” which read “call when it’s time for cake” or something like that. I like the big bold happy birthday as it’s perfect for a more masculine look. Which is what I was going for. As you can see I didn’t use much of the pacific point in this card either. tee hee. NOT a favourite colour of mine! I do love Marina Mist though. Very nice.
So there you have it!! The card that wasn’t quite right! It’s ok though as I’m sure the recipient really won’t care as he’s a 12 year old boy! LOL
Until next time,
Hi!! Back again. It’s been so WET here!! So much rain. Everything is just soggy. Ugh! I made myself happy by playing along with the Curtain Call Colour Challenge this week. I had printed off last weeks to use but just didn’t get that far in my pile of challenges. So I was happily creating along and must have gotten confused a little somewhere along the way because I used Cajun Craze instead of Cherry Cobbler! I think Cajun was, like, so last week! LOL. So back to the drawing board for the card!! I’ll show you my “stuff up” tomorrow!
So the challenge was:
And my card is:
I made some pretty little rolled roses. so cute! I will admit that I detest Pacific Point so there is only just a wee little bit as my matt for the white. I’m also in a bit of a confetti white phase at the moment – just so you know it’s not cornflakes on my card! lol. Also, I made my own pearl swirl (say that ten times real fast!) using the strips of pearls from SU’s Jewels Basic Pearls pack. I may need to work on the swirling bit!
And the roses up close and personal:
See?? You can see I DID use the pacific point!! LOL. Please forgive me the not so crash hot photos as it’s so gray here today. I struggle getting a good picture.
Ok. I’m off to watch my cherubs jumping in the puddles in my back yard! I hope wherever you are the sun is shining!!
Until next time!
Woot! Played again!! Love that! This time I used the erm…interesting combination that the girls came up with over at JAI. I can’t say that I loved it that’s for sure!! Anyway, here’s the colour challenge:
And here is my card:
And the inside:
I created the riding hood red scallops by cutting a 1″ circle in half and lining it up along the Elegant Eggplant edge.
I used Upsy Daisy and my markers to colour the image. The base card stock is Confetti White, which is why there are speckles through it. I find it’s a nice and sturdy base card stock.
Hope you like it!!
Until next time,
Woo hoo! I stamped! I got some ink on paper! Feels like it’s been forever since i’ve done it just because I can! I’ve been printing off various challenges all week in the hope that i’d get some time to play and today’s the day! The rain here has been crazy mad and so whilst the kids rotted their brains errr watched some educational ABC Kids, I got stamping! I’ve had this idea in my head for a couple of weeks to make my own dotty paper. I love polka dots. Love them. Another thing that makes my heart happy!! Anyway (yep, i’ll get on with it) with a sponge dauber, whisper white craft ink and some clear embossing powder, I did it!! Hooray!
And then! Oh yeah it gets better!! I made a card!! I know! I know! A real card! And! It had stamping on it!! I am so proud of myself!! LOL
I used Mojo Monday Sketch # 172
And I created this:
And I love it! I’m allowed to say that because usually after a long period of NOT stamping the first cards I make are notoriously crap so to make something that is so cute just makes me happy! And I’m getting better at being able to admit I actually like what I create! Big step for some of us! But seriously, it has DAFFODIL DELIGHT on it so what’s NOT to love! Right?! LOL
Hope you like it too!!
Until next time,
For the last couple of years I’ve followed Ali Edwards and her blog. I’ve watched her one little word and how big that one word can become. Last year I had a secret word. I didn’t share it but I thought it. When things were difficult, I remembered it. It was Climb. I knew that if I continued to climb the “hills/mountains” in my life, I’d get to the top. Well, I’m still climbing. And I will continue to do so this year. But it’s not the right word for 2011.
This year I’ve thought for ages about my word. I sat on “survive” for a few weeks. But it held too many negative conotations for me, I couldn’t use it. I thought about what I want 2011 to bring. How I want to live my life. My answer – Better. I want to be a better Mummy. A better wife. Friend. Person. Better at communicating and connecting. Better at looking after my body, my health and my sanity. And that’s just the beginning.
So this year I’m striving for better. Because even though I know most of the time I work hard at things, I can do better! I know I can.
Are you participating in the One Little Word for 2011? Do you have a word? I’d love to know!
What does that mean?? Well I thought for a bit of fun we could create a mystery kit. Well. Not that it’s a mystery to you…but to the person that it gets sent to! How does it work? You create a kit of ingredients (guidelines below)and then send the kit along with a self addressed envelope. I will then distribute the kits amongst the “players”. We’ll have a couple of weeks to complete the task.
Mystery Card kit must include:
- A cardstock base (A5 or similar size). Colour of your choice.
- Co-ordinating Card Stock for Layering. May include a piece of patterned papers. Minimum of two pieces to be included and they must be at least 15cm x 5cm or larger. More than two pieces may be included.
- At least one of the following (more than one option may be chosen if desired):
- Length of ribbon (generous enough to be tied in a bow).
Please ensure the colours co-ordinate.
Participants are allowed to add ONE neutral colour to this selection. This includes colours like Kraft (Crumb Cake), Sahara Sand, Vanilla, Whisper White, Confetti White & Cream etc.
Participants will post me their kits NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 14TH OF JANUARY. Kits will be posted back out by Monday 17th of January.
You have until SUNDAY 30th January to post/publish your completed card using your mystery kit. You can post a picture to your blog, online gallery or to email to me & I will post on my blog. If you don’t, you lose the chance to go in the draw to win. The winner will receive one roll of Stampin’ Up! Satin Ribbon (colour of their choice) along with a packet of Rhinestones. The winner will be chosen via Random.Org.
If you have any questions please EMAIL ME. Or leave me a comment on this post. I will (try) to keep this post at the top!!
To sign up for this swap please make a note in the comments section. I will co-ordinate all the names and look forward to your participation!!
This is open to any Australian residents. You don’t have to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and you don’t have to use Stampin’ Up! Products. Obviously there will be a majority of SU girls playing, but please don’t let that stop you!!
Happy Stamping Everyone!!
