Busy, a Birthday & Cuddles

May 30th, 2009

What a week!  I did two workshops this week (waving Carmel & Anita) which is the most i’ve done in a while.  Must admit I was feeling quite rusty!  I also had Miss Lara with me for the first time as well and it went better than I expected.  Fingers crossed for the future.

Thursday saw my birthday come and go for another year!  Very busy!  I was a bit excited to get some nestabilities though so i’ll be getting all scallopy in my future cards!  Just need a few hours to try it out!  Below are some of the handmade cards I received for my birthday – wasn’t I spoilt?

Here’s the pop-up card my 7 year old made me -

Pretty cool huh? LOL

The other pretty cool thing we did was get a Kitten!!  We’ve called her Cuddles (hence the blog title! Eh? Clever?)  Here’s a picture for your viewing pleasure.  Seeings as Kristie is flaunting puppy all over her blog I thought i’d even it out for those of us who like the feline kind of pet!!cuddles-collage

All we can hear in the house is Alexandra calling “where are you cat, where are you?” Very cute.

I shall endeavour to get some pictures taken of the projects that were made last week at my workshops and up on the internet some time in the next couple of days.  The next week is awash with appointments for Lara so heaven knows when i’ll get time to stamp!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

Inkspirations Challenge #7

May 23rd, 2009

inspiration-challenge-7

Have you seen Makeesha’s latest Inkspriations Inspiration Challenge??  Oh My!!  The bedding was delicious! Makeesha & the design teams cards were DIVINE.  I HAD to play!  Had to!  I was very diligent and got 25 thank you/baby announcement cards done for Mark’s cousin who just had a baby so I rewarded myself with a little bit of creativity for me!  I had so much fun with this.  Thanks so much Keesh!!

Now sometimes I really love a card.  Not often, just sometimes….and this is one of those cards.  It makes me happy on the inside.  I know I’m odd, it’s OK really to say so!!  LOL.  I loved it so much I had to take pictures and upload it straight away!  So keep in mind I don’t have very good lighting and it’s 10.30 at night!  I don’t think the sun is coming out any time soon in Brisbane either!  Anyway, the card -

inkspiration7_1

I have used the Bella Rose DSP, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White & Tempting Turquoise Cardstock.  Some of buttons from SU’s Button Bouquet (and Kristie, I’m sorry they’re nekkid but I likes ‘em like that!).  I’ve cut and punched some random circles, scrunched them up and flatted* them out.  The only stamping is on the PP Base – I’ve used the Sanded BG Stamp.  I love the effect it gives and I really don’t use it enough!  I’ve done a little weaving of the Turquoise stem bits.  I thought about adding a butterfly but I just didn’t have any room left.  Instead of folding the card “normally” I’ve made it into a long card.  And it is even more prettier in real life!!

Anyway, I hope you like it as much as I did.  And if you don’t, well that’s ok too!! ;-)

Until next time,
Happy stamping!

* Flatted is a word that Katelin used to use when she wanted her blanket {small and much loved satin edged baby blanket} straightened out.  It’s kinda stuck in this house!  So therefore, it is a word!! ;-) :-)

It’s been…1 week since I looked at you…

May 20th, 2009

closed my eyes and said sorry!!

Sorry i’m such a bad blogger of late.  Would you like a little run down of a week in the life of a stressed out mother of four?  About how my washing in that week could fill a small swimming pool?  About the trips across Brisbane for nasal gastric tube re-insertion as Miss Lara has found that if she worries at it for long enough she can get it out {and that i’m a wus and can’t do it myself yet}? Or shall I skip the nitty gritty and get down to the cards people??  Yeah, I know.  I’d rather the cards too!

At Lucinda’s workshop {waving to the girls} on the weekend we covered some embossing techniques.  I was mortified when I had left ALL my stamps at home!!  And the trip over to Lucinda’s is a mere hour and a bit away from my house!  Yes, that was a moment worthy of a hung head!  Lucky Lucinda came to the rescue with stamps that worked with the card and we could proceed! As Lucinda has joined my team this month it’s probably a good lesson for her to learn how NOT to run a workshop eh?  And I am blessed that my customers are my friends and forgive me for my incompetencies.  Right.  Sorry. The cards!

circle-circus-emboss

Once again a big fat FAIL on the photography.  I swear the card is straight in real life…I just am a bit of an ordinary photographer!  Base is Tangerine Tango, Basic Grey stamped an image from Circle Circus with versamark.  Next layered strips of Baja Breeze and Tangerine Tango Prints DSP.  Embossed images from Circle Circus on Baja Breeze DSP and punched out using various circle punches. Stamped the sentiment from the Trendy Trees set and voila all done.  LOVE this colour combo.  LOVE the Circle Circus set.

The next two cards (also a bit wonky…) were other ways to use embossing.

5th-ave-floral-emboss-resist

Emboss Resist on Gloss Cardstock.  Stamp image in versamark, emboss with white powder, using ink and sponges colour around the flowers etc wiping off excess ink off the embossed image to make it stand out. {Like this card?  You could make it at my embossing classes – 11th & 18th of June email me at madonna@madonnadunnDOTcomDOTau for more information.}

24-7-emboss

And the last card to showcase the embossing.  The main damask motif from the Friends 24-7 stamp set was used.  Have I mentioned that I got this set for FREE at convention yet??  It was exciting!!  LOL.  I stamped the image in versamark on a piece of DSP from the Bella Rose pack and embossed using clear powder.  I then used Choc Chip ink and brayered over the rest of the paper so that it was just the centre image that stood out.  The Choc Chip base was also embossed in clear powder with the Damask image.

Anyway, hope you like them.  I’ve hardly had a moment to stamp this last week in between all the running around i’ve been doing with the kids and such.  I’m hoping to get the chance to do some tomorrow…or maybe Friday!  Fingers crossed for me!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

organicoutlinestrip

I really really love Tangerine Tango.  Love it.  A lot.  I didn’t think I would but right now it’s just my favourite colour!  Orange makes me happy on the inside.  There.  I’ve said it out loud now!!!  LOL

When I saw Organic Outline in the new Idea Book & Catalogue I loved it straight away.  It was definately on my A list.  I’ve finally had time for a play and these are the cards i’ve come up with.  Hope you like them!
