Happy Birthday Billy

Goodness!!  How time flies when you’re up to your eyeballs in life with four small people!  Baby Lara is doing well.  She is delicious and I just never ever get enough of that divine scent that is fresh baby.  There is something about the combination of clothes washed in Lux Flakes and Johnson’s baby bath with chamomile and lavender that just makes me all gooey.

Anyway, you didn’t pop in here to read about my oddities!!  I did make a card this morning.  Mostly out of necessity but it was good to start creating again.  There is no claiming this is my greatest creation but I had fun with the chunky glitter on the chipboard!  I must confess to being severely discombobulated since the arrival of Miss Lara.  I think my mind has left the building!  I’m hoping it’s return is imminent.  If you see it, please tell it to come home ok?

This card is for our neighbours little boy who is turning two.  I’ve used Night of Navy Cardstock and Jersey Shore Designer Series Paper.  The greeting is from the set called Cheery Chat.

Ok everyone, hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday wherever you are.  I’ll just give you another peek of my smallest princess before I go…just because I can.  She’s just a bit cute hey?

A beautiful gift

Phew!  Where has the last week gone??  Into the haze which is life with a newborn!  My blog is going to be sadly neglected I think!!  I know my stamps are!  I have been doing some creating but it’s Lara’s Thank-you’s and Baptism invites so I need to get them posted out before I can put them up here.

One thing I will post though is the beautiful gift that the gorgeous Yvonne sent baby Lara.  I must say I got a little tear in my eye at how much effort she gone to to make everything match perfectly.  I love my Stampin’ Up! friends!!  Yvonne is exceptionally talented and the most beautiful person and I love her to bits (slurp slurp mwah!) LOL. 

She sent the most darling little suits a gorgeous card and a box of chocolates for me!!  I have to be careful and ration them though as Lara isn’t too fond of chocolate in the breastmilk.  I’ve also discovered that coleslaw is out and I’d kill some nights for a glass of wine!!  The things we do for our babies eh?

Introducing…

The lovely Lara May Dunn

Lara was born 2 weeks ago on Wednesday, 5 November at 2.59pm.  She was 2980Kg (6 pound 9 ounces) and was 49cm long. 

I’m sorry i’ve not been blogging in the last couple of weeks but it’s been a whirlwind since Lara’s birth.  Some of you may already know that she was born with Calcaneovalgus feet which is similar to Tallipes.  She has had a splint on her left foot and a cast on her right since the day after her birth.  She progressed to a splint on the right foot on Monday!  She will have physio on her feet for the next few months and by the time she’s walking you will never know she had any problems at all.  Isn’t modern medicine magnificent?  We actually didn’t get out of hostpital until last Tuesday as Lara had to spend a few days under phototherapy due to severe Jaundice.  She is still a little yellow but 1000% on what she was!!

Today is my first day at home by myself with the little darling and I can finally catch my breath from the whirlwind that has been life in the last two weeks!!

An Apple a Day….

Thank God for Mother In Laws who put children to bed!!  That means I can pop on here and write a quick post with the pictures of the Teachers Gift that I made.  Now I totally got the idea off of the net, however, I changed the measurements to suit my own notepad etc.  Very easy to do and you could whip up quite a few of these for Teacher Gifts, Christmas Gifts etc etc.   It’s a little note book / compendium. Below you can see the front cover.

The next picture is the inside view.  I used the DSP to cut the cute little apples out of and also stamped an apple on each page of the notebook.  I used a mini calendar for 2009 and decorated a jumbo paperclip with scallop circles.  I used the outline Alphabet stamped on the Summer Picnic DSP for the Teachers initial.  The post-it notes are cut down to size using my big cutter.  I just fiddled with it all until it fitted!  I used my scissors to carefully snip out a small slit on either fold so that I could thread my ribbon through and use it to hold the pen in place.

THis is just a closeup of the little bookmark paperclip.  Very easy but a wee bit cute!

So there you have it.  A very quick and easy teacher / Christmas etc gift!!  If you would like my measurements, please email me ([email protected]).

Wonderful Friend

I cased this card from one I saw on the net recently.  Due to my very ditzy pregnancy brain I cannot for the life of me remember where that was.  If you know, please leave a comment so that I can duly acknowledge their work!  (Which was more gorgeous than mine is! ;-)

Wonderful Friend has been inked from the stamp that says “My Dear Kind & Wonderful Friend” using the MARKERS.  The MARKERS are magnificent and what’s even more magnificent about the SU MARKERS is that they are going to be available to purchase individually from the 10th of November for only $4.95 each!!  That means you can replace any you may have lost (oops like me!), or used consistently or get your favourite colours on their own!  Email me if you want to take advantage of it!

So this card started as something and finished as something else entirely.  However (if I do say so myself) I was quite impressed by how lovely the flower turned out.  It’s going to be a bit bulky to send off so i’ll have to wait until the intended recipient visits me to give it to her!!

I have a great teachers gift to post about as well but I’ll see how time permits this evening as tomorrow is the BIG DAY for induction of this baby of mine!!  So if you don’t see me back here again for a week or so it’s because I’ve had some other little matters to attend to!!! 

If you leave a comment for me about what sex and weight you think it’s going to be, the person who gets the sex right and closest to the actual birth weight will get a bit of BLOG CANDY!!  I’ve got a 6yo Girl (born 8pd13oz), a 4yo boy (born 9pd 9oz) and a 21mth girl (born 7pd 11oz).  Have fun!!

Challenges, Challenges….& perhaps some procrastination!

Well I SHOULD be emptying boxes and packing things away in my new study!!  I know I promised pictures.  Here’s a sneaky peak for now.  I did want it to all be perfect but I’m realistic to know that it’s probably never going to be perfect!!  What you are looking at in the picture below is the end of the room.  I think it’s pretty self-explanatory.  To the left of the picture, the cupboards wrap around a little way and my computer and printer is on that desk.  I’m very happy with it.  I’m totally in love with Ikea and of course my dear darling husband who did so much of the work to get it to where it is today.  Thanks also need to go to the ‘lations who helped!  Peter B for the building work and Adam & Jim for the installation of the cupboards.  I am so pleased with the outcome!  It will be even lovelier when I pull my finger out and put everything away!! 

Now for the challenges.  I’m so loving just being able to get to the majority of my stuff that I HAD to create.  The need was too great to ignore!  First card is for a challenge over at the Elite Challenges Blog.  It’s called “Take to The Sky” and it was a colour challenge.  Colours were Soft Sky, Taken with Teal and Purely Pomegranate.
