Christmas Stationery Box

I love the internet! I love that I can be looking at websites and be inspired by projects that others have done before me!  I love that I can use my own twist on things to make something that is unique to me!  This box I found whilst procrastinating (I know, not like me at all!!) and just blog hopping to places i’d never been before.  I found a picture of it on Stacey Brady’s site and then googled Statationery Box Tutorial and found the Tutorial on another site!  Pretty cool!  You can see the tutorial for it here.

Above is the outside of the box. I’ve used Always Artichoke & Pomegranate Card stock and the lid & front uses Holiday Harmony DSP.

Inside you see there are several pockets.  On the front flap i’ve attached a note book for the Christmas Card list etc.  The little pocket is for stamps.  In the pockets at the back there are Tags, 3×3 notes and some christmas cards.

3×3 Notecards.

Christmas Cards using Season of Joy, Holiday Harmony DSP and Stitched Pomegranate Ribbons.

Tags using the Tag set from the Spring Mini Catalogue.

I hope you like it.  I had fun making it and I think i’ll whip up a couple in some Berry Bliss and East Coast Prep papers to have on hand as a gift etc.

Until Next time!
Happy Stamping!

Kristie ALWAYS embellishes it!!

Over at my SU Uplines forum we had a little cyberstamp this week.  I only participated in one of the challenges as I’ve been ill this week with Laryngitis.  My children have rejoiced because I can no longer yell at them.  I can share with you that a wooden spoon banged down on various different surfaces DOES get their attention however! ;-)

Anyway, what does the title of my post have to do with the card or the cyberstamp?  Well, dear Kristie (who some of you may know is my sister and my downline!) hosted the cyberstamp.  She is addicted to embellishments.  Cannot help herself.  Due to Alisa setting the challenge of only one last week, Kris retaliated and said we must use at least 3!! (quite childish really don’t you think?! lol)

This card uses a Soft Sky Base, Spring Silhouette DSP, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla Card stock.  The heart stamp comes from the Always set out of the new mini and was “rocked and rolled”.   That is where you stamp in the lighter colour and then rolled your stamp around in the darker colour to get the two-tone mottled effect.  My three embellishments are the Vanilla Wide Grosgrain, Vanilla half-back pearls from the pretties kit and the “hello” rub-on.  Kristie thinks rub-ons are a dubious embellishment…but hey, it works for me!!  Go and check out the other cards submitted in the Gallery at Alisa’s site.

Until Next time,
Happy Stamping!

Happy Stars!!

I needed something a bit bright and cheerful to send off to a couple of very clever and talented girls in my team.  I wanted to make them both “star” cards because they achieved some pretty awesome goals last month in their SU journies.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive Cardstock and more of the delicious Summer Picnic Double sided Papers.  I used both the Star & Large Star punches to do the stars on the front.  I popped some of them up with Dimensionals.  It’s very satisfying to see the girls in my team reaching goals (even if they never intended too! ;-) ).

I’ll be back with some more things for you later this week!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

Stamp A Stack of Cards

This week I have a couple of Stamp-a-Stack events running.  This is where the guests pay a certain amount and make a particular number of cards.  This week it’s 6 cards.  I’ve made two different designs.  These first cards are made using the East Coast Prep DSP and Wild About You Stamp Set.  I was trying to create something that would be suitable for either children OR men.  My hubby said he liked it so I’m hoping the hostesses feel the same way!! LOL

These cards all use exactly the same dimensions for each.  Just by changing the colours and embellishments you can change the complete look of the card!  I love that the papers are double-sided because you can get such varying effects!!

These next cards are very feminine and use the new One of a Kind set out of the Spring Mini Catalogue.   I love the Berry Bliss DSP.  Actually, I think i’m partial to all the SU double-sided papers!!

Anyway, I hope that the guests and hostesses this week like what i’ve designed.  I have a few more things up my sleeve for later in the week.  I’m trying to get ahead a little so that I can post things remotely when I move next week!!  YAY new house!!  Yuck – moving at 29 weeks pregnant!! LOL

Until next time!
Happy Stamping!

More Scrapbooking

I’ve been on a scrapbooking roll lately.  I’m trying hard to get some pictures in an album before the new baby comes…..well, I can dream!!!!

The first picture is a continuance of the Summer Picnic Theme.  These pictures were taken at the same time as the previous one I scrapped.  I’ve also added the Die Cut Blooms from the Spring mini and some Rub-ons as well.  I am going to also apologise for my dodgy photograpy skills!!  I haven’t mastered the art of photographing layouts yet!

This next page uses another photo I took the same day with the three of my little darlings.  I’ve used different papers – are you shocked?!!  I have a confession.  I ran out of the colours I liked from the Summer Picnic papers and I’ve ordered more!!!  LOL.  I actually like the way this one has turned out.  I used Spring Break DSP, Blue Bayou & River Rock Card stock and Blue Bayou & Old Olive Ink to colour the pretties flowers.

For those of you who don’t know my children they are Katelin 6 1/2, Thomas 4 1/2, and Alexandra who is 18 months.  The only way I could get Alexandra to stay still for these photos was to lay flat on the grass, sit her on my “lap” under my big bump and get Katelin & Tom to come either side of her!  So I wasn’t “trying” to be artistic I was just trying to get a picture of the three of them together!!  Not many more opportunities before baby #4 arrives early November!!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

Scrap Happy

Hmm hm mm-mm-mm summer holiday……I’m still singing and I’m still using the Summer Picnic Papers from the Spring Mini Catalogue!!  This time i’ve “scraplifted” a layout from a very talented lady called Karen McLauchlin.  I came across her site through the fabulous Aussie Scrapbooking site.  Sometimes clicking on a link in the wide world of webbing is like stepping into a whole other wonderful world of creativity!  Anyway, this layout inspired me – I’ve had this photo on my desk for a couple of weeks just waiting for the right stuff to come together.  I’ve been wanting to try this kind of scrapping for a while I like the look of it.  I’m not sure i’m super good at it but the picture and the papers make me happy!!  Because frankly, let’s face it, those kids are pretty darn cute!!!

I’ve used Summer Picnic Papers, Big Deal Alpha, Real Red & Pumpkin Pie Card stock, Old Olive ink, Scallop Punch, Clear Buttons & Twine, Black Journaller.  Tell me what you think of my foray into this kind of style!

Until Next time,
Happy Stamping or Scrapping!

Operation Inspiration from Megan

Megan is the newest member of my team Mad Inkstincts and she has participated in my Operation Inspiration challenge this week.  Welcome to the Team my friend and I love your scrap page!!! You look gorgeous!! ;-)

There is no deadline on when you need to get something done by if you still wish to participate!  Thanks to everyone who has you have all done a magnificent job!!

Until next time,
Happy Stamping!

I’ve been on a Summer Picnic

Ok Ok I know that technically we are still in Winter but the new Summer Picnic Designer Series papers from Stampin’ Up! have got me so darn chirpy!!  Do you remember that Cliff Richard Song “Summer Holiday?”

“Were all going on a summer holiday.
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday.
No more worries for me and you.
For a week or two.”

It’s such a happy song!  The original video is a crack though.  Check it out here on you tube if you fancy a bit of a giggle!

So what’s that got to do with anything.  Right, sorry I meandered away from stamping there for a minute!!  Well these new papers just have me so happy and I find myself thinking of that song every time I use them.  So now it’s going to be in your head too.  No, no don’t thank me – it’s perfectly alright!!!

I have another whole bundle of pictures again for you today!  First of all I made some matching little Post it Note holders.  I use these as hostess gifts at workshops or lucky door prizes.  They are a great easy gift to give someone!

I’ve used the Summer Picnic DSP’s, Real Red & Pumpkin Pie Card stock, Real Red Ink and the striped Grosgrain Ribbons in the Pumpkin, Real Red & Bashful Blue.  Cute Huh?

Then I got more happy and made some “Hi” cards.  I just wanted something cheery so that I could send a couple of friends a note without it being a long-winded “thinking of you” etc etc.  I like Hi.  It says everything I want it to!

All I’ve used on these is some Real Red Card stock, Scraps of the Summer Picnic papers, Striped Grosgrain Ribbons and a Pumpkin Scallop circle cut in half.  The Chipboard letters have been coloured with a marker, smothered in Crystal Effects and then Dazzling Diamonds generously applied.  The other Hi has been stamped using Big Deal Alpha and given dimension with some Crystal Effects.  Very quick, very easy and I’m liking the effect they have on me.  Yep, more happy!!

The last little project that I have to share with you is my big Note Holder-y thing.  Hmmn…not sure exactly what to name this.  Inspiration for it came from a picture I saw on the net from something someone in the US had done.  It was at the US convention.  I think theirs had a little white board though. I can’t remember exactly it’s just when I saw it I knew that I could adapt my little note holder into a BIG note holder!

I’ve used the cardboard sheet that comes in the DSP packet and covered it with more summer picnic papers.  I’ve also used some Old Olive Cardstock as the background strip for the Notes & To do words which have been stamped with my Big Deal Alphabet.  The gorgeous flowers come from the Summer Mini Die Cut Blooms Set.  These just match so beautifully with these papers.  I’ve also added a Rhinestone Brad to the centre of each.  They are red and look so cute!  I’ve raised the flowers with Dimensionals to give some depth.  I’ve added Crystal Effects to the letters as well.  The Real Red Stamping has kind of gone a little fluro with the Crystal Effects so I think I’ll have another go and see if I was challenged when I did it! The Note book and the Postits have been adhered to the holder with Sticky Strip.  It’s a definate must-have item if you are doing any off the page projects! Once you have stuck something down with it it’s never moving again!!  I used my favourite tool the Crop-a-dile to attach some Jumbo Eyelets to the corners, threaded through the Pumpkin Striped Grosgrain and Bob is your uncle….or something like that!

I love the way these papers brighten my mood.  I think I’ll be reaching for them again and again.  Get ready for some more Happy!!  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  I’d love to know if like that paper as much as me!!

Until Next time,
Happy Stamping!!

A Plethora of Pictures

I’m on a bit of an Off the Page kick at the moment.  I love that you can use stamps and paper to create things outside of just scrap pages & cards.  Today I want to show you a couple of little projects that were fun to make and quite easy too!

The first is a Mini Scrapbook in a DVD tin.

OK so the photos are as follows – Top: Front cover of Tin – I’ve used Regal Rose Cardstock & Ink, Certainly Celery Cardstock and Big Deal Alpha.  I’ve also used Nursery Necessities & the Nursery Letters Wheel.  I used Crytal Effects on the letters to make them bumpy.  Second Row is the first page and I have used the same stamps and colours from the front.  The one thing I want to point out is that I used the Crop-a-dile and Jumbo Eyelets to make a Grommet and thread through some Celery Grosgrain.  This just makes a nice little tab to pull open the book.  In the next picture I’ve used the “Introducing” stamp from Bundle of Joy.  I’ve also used the Stars from Nursery Necessities.  I’ve used the little star punch from SU as well.  Anyway, the rest is fairly self-explainatory but if you want to know more, please e-mail me at [email protected]

This is not a clue as to the sex of the child i’m carrying either.  I still have no idea!  It’s probably going to be a gift for my girlfriend who is due a few weeks after me.  She tried to find out at her scan and the baby wasn’t co-operating.  The sonographer thought it was a girl but wasn’t encouraging them to go buy pink!

The other little OTP project I made was an altered pinapple tin.  Thanks to Jacqui C fro reminding me to give this a go.  All I have done is used my Tupperware Tin opener to take the BOTTOM off the tin of pineapple, as it doesn’t leave any rough edges and you are able to put the bottom back on! So my top with the ring pull is completely intact!  Cool idea huh?

I’ve kept with the same colours – Regal Rose, Certainly Celery and So Saffron.  I’ve also continued to use the Nursery Necessities stamp set.  How cute are those Elephants??  The other thing I wanted to draw your attention to (if you are indeed still with me in this mammoth posting!) is the Rhinestone Brad that’s on the front under the Welcome little One stamp – it is completely through the tin.  I LOVE my Crop-a-dile!  LOVE IT!  As you can see from the picture the inside of the tin is empty and the Base fits nicely back onto it.  When I’m ready to fill it I’ll probably put some card stock on the inside as well, put in my gift first – maybe some cute socks or a singlet, then pack the bottom with stamped tissue paper and seal the lid with Crystal Effects or some super glue.

So there you go.  A cute little gift idea that you can tweak to suit yourself.  The mini scrapbook in the DVD tin would easily translate into a gift for Father’s Day or for the Grannies in our lives who don’t have any more room for pictures in frames.  The Tin is also able to be altered to suit the gift you want to give.  Again, Father’s Day is just around the corner.  Fill it with Dad’s favourite chocolates!!  If you do make one of these, leave me a comment with a link to a picture or send me an email.  I’d love to see your creations!!

Until Next time!!
Happy Stamping!!

Operation Inspiration

This post is for all those people out there that have mental blocks or loss of “mojo” or just plain old bad days at the stamping or scrapping table.  A few of the girls in my team have commented on just that recently and after a week of fighting off the kids diseases I’ve been a bit the same myself!  So what motivates you to create?  What do you find helps you when you have hit a brick wall?  Me, I just try to look around me to see if there is an interesting colour combination or I go and check out (ok, ok STALK) a couple of my favourite stampers or scrappers and usually after a few blogs I’m thinking ooooh I like that, I could do “this” or some such thing!  I also like to do any number of the challenges that you can find out there in “blogland”.

Anyway, back onto the Operation Inspiration I looked around the house and what had I been looking at all week – the Tissue Boxes!!  So my challenge to my team members and anyone else out there who is reading is to take what you will from the following picture.  Be it colours, layout, design – whatever!  Just be inspired by either or both of the boxes!

And my cards are:

The first card (above) was inspired by the tissue box on the top!  I’ve used:
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Really Rust, Ruby Red, Choc Chip, Garden Green & Green Galore
Ink: Choc Chip & Green Galore
Accessories: Boho Blossom Punch with co-ordinating One of a Kind Stamp Set
Stamps: Oh So Lovely – Level one Hostess

I’ll take a better picture in the daytime & I apologise in advance for the wonky Thank you.  It looks straighter in real life! Although they do say that the camera never lies!! LOL

This next card was a little trickier.  I do not like Orchid Opulence.  I do not like it Sam I am.  We aren’t really friends, If you know what I mean??  Anyway this card came a little hard to me and I am not loving it at all BUT it was inspired by the second tissue box and that was the object of the game!  It also gave me another good idea which I will try out maybe later this weekend!
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red & Orchid Opulence Markers, Celery and Green Galore pads
Accessories: Just my trusty paper snips to cut out.  I also the markers to get the streaky kind of effect.

So, if you want to participate or even just leave me your two cents worth then please by all means do.  I’m going to try to post an Operation Inspiration every once in a while (lets be honest – I’ll never manage weekly!) to keep our creative juices flowing!

Until Next time,
Happy Stamping!!
