Festive Friday #8

Back so soon???!!  Aren’t you lucky!! LOL

Just wanting to link you all up to Nicole’s Festive Friday posts!  Check it out HERE.  My submission this week was this card:

I used the Cherry Cobbler Embossing ink and the Snow Swirled Stamp Set to create the embossed tree on Glossy Cardstock.  The background is called polished stone and it’s created using Isocol Rubbing Alcohol and the ink from SU re-inkers.  It’s a great technique to use for something a little different.  The ribbon is the Baha Breeze Seam Binding.  I love that stuff!!!  Any other questions on this, just let me know.

Every Moment…

Hi again.  Gosh.  Two days in a row (da da da da da…four seasons in one day…anyone singing along now?). No? Ok, I will move on! lol

So this is a card I did recently at a class. One of the things I learnt at Convention was how to make the Tulip border embossing folder frame a smaller area.  Not too tricky to learn how to do! Here’s the card:

Colours used are Bashful Blue for card base, Basic Gray for the frame, Rich Razzleberry DSP for the stripes and a More Mustard strip underneath. I’ve water coloured using the Confetti White CS an Aqua Painter and the ink from the top of the pad.  I’m no Alisa Tilsner but you know, i’m happy with how this turned out. I think it’s the striking colour combination and how the Razzleberry just pops the other colours. Oh, well that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it!  Again the use of the Decorative Label punch.  Do you own it?  Oh heavens above you should if you don’t! It’s gorgeous! And so many of my sentiments fit inside it! I love it! Can you tell??

Okay. I’m also working on editing some photos from an Anniversary Album that I did on Commission for a friend of another demo friend. I did 31 pages in less than a week.  I know. I’m awesome! lol.  Stampin’ Up! make it very easy to do with their Simply Scrappin’ Kits! I plan on getting some more and having some photos printed and getting stuck into some of my own scrapbooking! (If I keep saying it, eventually it will come true! Won’t it?).

Mojo Monday #172

Woo hoo!  I stamped!  I got some ink on paper!  Feels like it’s been forever since i’ve done it just because I can!  I’ve been printing off various challenges all week in the hope that i’d get some time to play and today’s the day!  The rain here has been crazy mad and so whilst the kids rotted their brains errr watched some educational ABC Kids, I got stamping!  I’ve had this idea in my head for a couple of weeks to make my own dotty paper.  I love polka dots.  Love them.  Another thing that makes my heart happy!!  Anyway (yep, i’ll get on with it) with a sponge dauber, whisper white craft ink and some clear embossing powder, I did it!!  Hooray!

And then!  Oh yeah it gets better!!  I made a card!! I know!  I know!  A real card!  And! It had stamping on it!!  I am so proud of myself!! LOL

I used Mojo Monday Sketch # 172

And I created this:

And I love it!  I’m allowed to say that because usually after a long period of NOT stamping the first cards I make are notoriously crap so to make something that is so cute just makes me happy!  And I’m getting better at being able to admit I actually like what I create!  Big step for some of us! But seriously, it has DAFFODIL DELIGHT on it so what’s NOT to love! Right?! LOL

Just Add Ink Challenge #38 – Pink & Bling!!

How can you go wrong with a challenge that’s asking for you to use PINK & BLING on the same card??!!  Anything with that combination is bound to be gorgeous!!  Check out the fabulously talented JAI girls here.

This week in honour of October being Breast Cancer Month and the 25th specifically being Pink Ribbon Day, the girls have made the challenge this week all about pink!  Love it.  I have family who have been very affected by this cancer and some equally horrid other cancers.  It’s so sad to see statistics that state 12000 Australian Women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Here is a close up of the flower I made.  I coloured a paper flower with the Pretty in Pink Stampin’ Write marker and then I spritzed it with my very own shimmer mist!! Can you see the subtle glimmeryness of it?!  Looks very noice.

I’m giving this card to a friend.  I’m in the process of baking some heart shaped biscuits and I’ll try to deliver either this afternoon or tomorrow for her & her hubby.   Life Happens, Love Helps is a gorgeous sentiment and it’s just what I was looking for to show that I’m thinking of them right now!

for the pinks I’ve used Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette.  The inside card stock is Confetti White.  The DSP is from the Subtles 12×12 Paper Pack (love it).  For the bling I’ve used, Supernova Glitter, Rhinestones, a Rhinestone Brad and Frost white Shimmer Paint (made into a mist).

So is there enough pink?  Enough Bling?? I hope so!!

Same same but different

Hi!  Back again!  I continued playing with the shimmer paint spritzing last night and I tried it with some reinker.  Ooooh the possibilities girls!!  It looked great!!  I tried to take some pictures but they’re not very good.

Anyway, the stuff from my previous card was still on the desk so I continued playing with the sketch (which I loved Keesh!!).

Can you see??  It’s a bit hard to tell but on this Baja background i’ve used the same spritz soloution except with the Not Quite Navy Reinker.  It kind of makes it a bit darker.

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #41

Hi!  Back again!!  I’m still procrastinating.  I’m supposed to be unpacking boxes but I decided I needed to participate in Makeesha’s challenge this week!!  heehee.  Shhh, don’t tell anyone!!  LOL

I have been dying to give the make you’re own shimmer spritz with the New Shimmer Paint since I saw some of the awesome things done with it at Regionals last week.  It’s great!  I just made it up with Isocol, a wee bit of water, and the Frost White Shimmer paint.  Mix it up in a spray bottle and Bob’s your Uncle etc etc.

I sprayed it on a Baha Breeze Base.  It looks really cool in real life!!  I’ve also used Cherry Cobbler, and Soft Suede.  I think this is going to be a new favourite colour combination!  I’m afraid I had to use an oval as I’ve misplaced (read: lost) my middley bit out of my Circle Scissors!!  (Insert muttering here!).  I’ve also used the new Scallop Trim border punch and one of the delicious Antique Brads.  Yummy!! Ohh oh and the stamps are Growing Green & Great Friend.

Anyway, enough procrastination, I should get to and deal to my family!!

Jemma’s Birthday

Hi! Hi!  Is anybody still out there visiting me??  I’ve dropped off the blog radar a wee bit haven’t I??   Oops!  Sorry about that!!  Soon (as in less than a week! yaay!) I’ll have my new craft room/studio/classroom.  I’ll have room to spread out again, and my own space to create in.  It will be heaven!!  I’ve been sharing a room with hubby for the last 5 months and I only have a wee space (in comparison to my last house!) and I find it a little difficult to work in!  Soon though! Soon!!

Anyway, just a quickie to post the card I made for Jemma for her birthday!  (Happy Birthday again!!)  It was a simple design because I wanted to showcase the roses.

I’ve just used the sanded Background stamp on the Pink Pirouette.  The Whisper White is embossed with SU spots folder and I’ve also used Lots of Tags die for the frame.

The roses are fairly easy to make and look very effective.  I had fun making these!

I hope that you are all well and haven’t abandoned me totally!!  I shall post some pictures of my room soon ok??

Just add….Dimension!!

Oh my!  Hold on to yourself!  I’m posting two days in a row!!!!  It’s all the TIME I’ve had with hubby and kids away!!  I’m also finished my fundraising commitments and I have no classes to prep for right this minute!!  I could play!!  Yay!!

Anyway, over on the Just Add Ink challenge blog thier latest challenge is to Just add Dimension.  Check it out HERE.

And my card:

The dimension part is the cool flower I made to go on the card.  Yes?  Dimension-y enough?  I was going to add crystal effects to the thermometer bit but I can’t wait for it to dry.  Patience is not one of my virtues!!  LOL

Wanna know how to make that flower??  It’s super easy.  All you need is:

*      1″x12″ strip of Designer Series Paper
*      1 x 1-1/4″  Circle
*      Strong Adhesive
*      Eyelet Border Punch
*       Crimper
*      Brad or Button for centre.

1& 2.  Punch eyelet border along strip of 12 x 1″ DSP
3.  Crimp the strip of DSP
4. Cut circle from base cardstock and cover with strong adhesive.
5. Attach one end to the outside of the circle.
6. Folding as you go, work around and around the circle with the piece of crimped DSP.
7.  When finished your flower should resemble something like this.
8. Attach either a brad or a button to secure it together & then add it to your project!

Envelope Scrapbook Tutorial

Remember my post about the Envelope Scrapbook I demonstrated at Regionals?  Well I’ve finally gotten around to doing a quick tutorial.  I’m sorry about the delay but I have had my holiday go-slows on!!  We got back from the Beach on Tuesday and I have had my Mum staying with me so I have just been enjoying doing not much of anything!!

Anyway you didn’t come here to hear me waffling.  With this scrapbook, you can have as many pockets as you please.  I chose four because I have four children.  I’m sure it would work with as many as you needed it to.

Start with a Whisper White Envelope with the flap open:

Add sticky strip around the flap section, making sure that you do not go right up to the fold.  You want to leave a couple of milimetre gap to give you a little room to fill the pocket and still be able to open and shut the scrapbook easily.

Carefully attach your first envelope to the second.  Ensuring that it’s straight and that the envelopes are both facing the same way.

Keep adhering the envelopes together until you have the necessary amount for your scrapbook.  I used a circle punch to then take out the tab piece from the front of the envelope.  It helps to get the inserts out.

The inserts for the envelopes measured 10cm x 15 cm.  I just used part of an I wish Scrapping Kit to decorate mine.  I think i’d like to do one using some different colours.  It would make a cute gift for a new baby too!

It’s been…1 week since I looked at you…

Sorry i’m such a bad blogger of late.  Would you like a little run down of a week in the life of a stressed out mother of four?  About how my washing in that week could fill a small swimming pool?  About the trips across Brisbane for nasal gastric tube re-insertion as Miss Lara has found that if she worries at it for long enough she can get it out {and that i’m a wus and can’t do it myself yet}? Or shall I skip the nitty gritty and get down to the cards people??  Yeah, I know.  I’d rather the cards too!

At Lucinda’s workshop {waving to the girls} on the weekend we covered some embossing techniques.  I was mortified when I had left ALL my stamps at home!!  And the trip over to Lucinda’s is a mere hour and a bit away from my house!  Yes, that was a moment worthy of a hung head!  Lucky Lucinda came to the rescue with stamps that worked with the card and we could proceed! As Lucinda has joined my team this month it’s probably a good lesson for her to learn how NOT to run a workshop eh?  And I am blessed that my customers are my friends and forgive me for my incompetencies.  Right.  Sorry. The cards!

Once again a big fat FAIL on the photography.  I swear the card is straight in real life…I just am a bit of an ordinary photographer!  Base is Tangerine Tango, Basic Grey stamped an image from Circle Circus with versamark.  Next layered strips of Baja Breeze and Tangerine Tango Prints DSP.  Embossed images from Circle Circus on Baja Breeze DSP and punched out using various circle punches. Stamped the sentiment from the Trendy Trees set and voila all done.  LOVE this colour combo.  LOVE the Circle Circus set.

The next two cards (also a bit wonky…:oops:) were other ways to use embossing.

Emboss Resist on Gloss Cardstock.  Stamp image in versamark, emboss with white powder, using ink and sponges colour around the flowers etc wiping off excess ink off the embossed image to make it stand out. {Like this card?  You could make it at my embossing classes – 11th & 18th of June email me at madonna@madonnadunnDOTcomDOTau for more information.}

And the last card to showcase the embossing.  The main damask motif from the Friends 24-7 stamp set was used.  Have I mentioned that I got this set for FREE at convention yet??  It was exciting!!  LOL.  I stamped the image in versamark on a piece of DSP from the Bella Rose pack and embossed using clear powder.  I then used Choc Chip ink and brayered over the rest of the paper so that it was just the centre image that stood out.  The Choc Chip base was also embossed in clear powder with the Damask image.

Anyway, hope you like them.  I’ve hardly had a moment to stamp this last week in between all the running around i’ve been doing with the kids and such.  I’m hoping to get the chance to do some tomorrow…or maybe Friday!  Fingers crossed for me!
