So, as I mentioned previously, last weekend was my Annual Mad Inkstincts Team Retreat! There were 12 very talented, beautiful, funny and awesome ladies who attended (including me, lol). One of the challenges that I set for the weekend was a Sketch Challenge. I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch #151. And this was my card:
I had purchased this set, The Open Sea, from our current Mini Catalogue to use in a Class. I wanted to have a little play before the class to see what I could come up with. This card has a lot going on with embossing on the Not Quite Navy Background and distressing and layers of stamping. I was quite happy with how it turned out though. Do you like? It can be tricky to do a boy card but I think this one works.
Anyway! Enjoy your Sunday wherever you are and I’ll be back soon with more stuff from Retreat!
Good morning!! Check out this awesome Stitched Stocking Stamp Set and matching punch! Perfect for Christmas!
This set is coming in the 2011 Summer Mini Catalogue but is making an appearance a little early! You have the opportunity to purchase this set during the month of October. OR (but wait! there’s more!) you can earn it for FREE by hosting a workshop and your sales reaching $450!! How awesome is that?!!
Check out the full details of the set HERE.
After running a Christmas card class last year and cutting out a bunch of stockings from the (now retired) Holly, Jolly Christmas I know this is going make my mass production Christmas cards a LOT easier!!
Contact me if you’d like to book a workshop or hold a class!
Until next time,
Hi again. Gosh. Two days in a row (da da da da da…four seasons in one day…anyone singing along now?). No? Ok, I will move on! lol
So this is a card I did recently at a class. One of the things I learnt at Convention was how to make the Tulip border embossing folder frame a smaller area. Not too tricky to learn how to do! Here’s the card:
Colours used are Bashful Blue for card base, Basic Gray for the frame, Rich Razzleberry DSP for the stripes and a More Mustard strip underneath. I’ve water coloured using the Confetti White CS an Aqua Painter and the ink from the top of the pad. I’m no Alisa Tilsner but you know, i’m happy with how this turned out. I think it’s the striking colour combination and how the Razzleberry just pops the other colours. Oh, well that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it! Again the use of the Decorative Label punch. Do you own it? Oh heavens above you should if you don’t! It’s gorgeous! And so many of my sentiments fit inside it! I love it! Can you tell??
Okay. I’m also working on editing some photos from an Anniversary Album that I did on Commission for a friend of another demo friend. I did 31 pages in less than a week. I know. I’m awesome! lol. Stampin’ Up! make it very easy to do with their Simply Scrappin’ Kits! I plan on getting some more and having some photos printed and getting stuck into some of my own scrapbooking! (If I keep saying it, eventually it will come true! Won’t it?).
Until next time!
And even harder when that card is for a family who has lost a little person. A week ago today I heard some of the saddest news ever. A little girl from Lara’s playgroup had passed away. Now some of you may know that my Lara has many “foibles” and so it’s not really a surprise that some of her friends share similar foibles. I knew that one day we’d be faced with the horrid prospect of a small person passing away, but that doesn’t make it any easier. My heart is still sore from the news and I cannot fathom how hard it must be for Kate’s family. I wanted to make a card that would be something beautiful to do a very small part of soothing sad souls.
And the inside:
I used Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Blushing Bride. The Butterflies are from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. I sponged Crumb Cake around all the edges…the label on the front was made using the new decorative label punch from the mini catalogue. Hmmmn I think that’s it. I hope that Kate’s family liked it and that it helped in some small way.
Until next time,
Well maybe not the last card I make with it…but perhaps the last one that I show you for a while!! I have Buck (the Big Shot) sitting on my desk and it’s so easy to reach for him and get myself a card whipped up in no time.
This was seriously a 5 minute card. What’s that? You could tell?? Oh well!! LOL
And this next picture is what happens when your three year old sees you taking pictures of cards. ”Take one of ME Mummy!!!”
Miss Alexandra and Ted. Whom she informed me today is a Boy and a Girl because he is brown. Of course!
Until next time!
Hi hi! I told you i’d be back today. Albeit later than I had originally planned in my head!! It’s a shame that what goes on in my head never really seems to come to fruition in the real world. Does anyone else have that problem?? lol
These two cards I made using a similar layout to the one on yesterday’s card. Instead of the pleated paper I did some ruffled ribbon in Elegant Eggplant. Love that colour.
I really love this colour combination. Sahara Sand, Basic Grey, Elegant Eggplant. Beautiful. I used my trusty Organic Outlines. And sentiments from Sweet Little Sentiments and Best yet. The buttons and Brads are SU Basic Grey Corduroy. I love the texture on this card!!
Anyway, hope you’re having a great week so far. Hope to get back to you with some more stuff i’ve been doing soon!!
Or was that purple and green? On the cover of a magazine?? Anyway..I’m a BIG fan of Tangerine Tango and Old Olive! Big. Fan. hee
This card will be winging it’s way across the miles to a lovely lady whom I just know will appreciate the colours as much as I do. Orange makes her happy on the inside as well. I haven’t posted it yet. I’ve not even written on the inside, but as I was making it I couldn’t help but think of her lovely smiling face so it’s definitely gotta go to her!! Do you ever do that? Make something and then think, oh XYZ would love this? And then send it? Hmmnn.. I think I need to be doing it more often that’s for sure!!
I cannot go past this layout at the moment. I’ve got some more cards to show you using it tomorrow. I know. That will be three posts in a row. Don’t be falling over. I might forget yet! LOL
Stamps: Trendy Trees, Life Definitions, Inspired by Nature
Paper: Haiku, Old Olive, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Versamark, More Mustard, Old Olive
See you round tomorrow!! (or the next day!! haahahaha). Also, for those that are interested, I’ve started doing Ali Edwards “A week in the life” today. I just did it. I’m not going to wait until a week is less hectic or more normal. Define normal I say!! So stay tuned, because I plan to SCRAP!! Eek! It’s been a while!!
Until Next time,
Just a little quick post this morning. I’ll work on getting some other posts up this week!! I have done a little stamping this week. Not too much as it seems to be impossible for me to create without making a mess! Hard to imagine I know!!
My beautiful and very dear friend (and downline) Megan celebrated her birthday last week. I was SO organised and had made her a little card and had a present ready because I was going to see her on the weekend. And then, I left it at home! So typically me! So Meges, here is the card lovely and you’ll have to wait for the gift!!
I made her an easel card/desktop calendar “thing”. And that is definately the technical term for it! I’ve used the very new Soft Suede along with More Mustard & Taken with Teal. I’ve used Vintage Vogue as well. Hope you like it!!
Also because sometimes Megan thinks I’m fibbing, i’m recording here a few photos of my very tidy craft room! I know it’s only tidy because we are having open homes, however, it is still tidy and that counts!! lol!! So Meges, PROOF!! hahaha (you know I love you!)
Oh my!! Did you all see the colours the girls over at Just Add Ink have come up with for the challenge this week?? Oh my!!!
This morning a friend and I got stuck into some of the new SU! products coming out in the Autumn/Winter Mini catalogue and this is my entry to Just Add Ink Challenge #7:
It’s a bit of sneaky peak at one of the sets and an accessory that will be available to purchase come 1 April.
Must keep running!!
Have a great day & Happy Stamping!
Hi! Another quick post this evening!! Below is the card and bag that I made the little boy who lives next door for his birthday. He’s my Alexandra’s best friend and since his birthday she is desperate to have hers! My Hubby had his last week, then there is baby Jesus and then Alexandra in January. Such a long wait!! LOL
Anyway, here’s the gift bags and card:
And then the card on it’s ownsome:
I really hope the Choo Choo set makes it into the big Catalogue next year – I’m gonna miss it!!
Must keep running tonight!! Busy as usual!
Until next time,
